We are a community of adult Spanish learners who come here to learn Spanish with other like-minded people in a positive, respectful, and purposeful manner.
To join our exciting community of Spanish learners and to take advantage of the many benefits of membership, go to this page. (Membership is free.)
By engaging on this site as a member you agree to the following terms and conditions. Any member who does not abide by these conditions will have their membership revoked and will not be permitted to re-join the community.
Below are the terms and conditions of membership:
1.
To always respect other members. If you reach out to another learner through the internal messaging function of this site, and that learner makes it clear he or she does not want communication with you, either expressly or simply by not responding, you must respect that and not attempt to communicate again with that person. No site member will be allowed to insult, degrade, or in any way, denigrate another member. Views may legitimately be debated, but personal attacks, name-calling or any type of discrimination will not be tolerated.
2.
We will never share your personal contact information. Although we do ask for your email address and phone number so we can contact you to make sure it is you requesting membership, and not another person goofing around, we will never share this information with another member and it is invisible to them. If you share your personal contact information with someone through private messaging, it is at your sole discretion and responsibility. (See #3.)
We do not display member's emails or phone numbers and will never make any member's private contact information public. Also, we will never sell or share your information with any third-party company.
3.
To never advertise or promote other services. Our Spanish learning offerings also include private and paid courses and services and no outside advertising or promotions are accepted without agreement from the site owner, Bilingual Language Services, Inc. dba Bilingual America. If you are in doubt about whether or not something is considered advertising or promotion, please contact us
here. This includes all types of advertising, including but not limited to, any other language training courses, products, services, etc., as well as any other outside non language related product or service. Bilingual America ownership reserves the right, however, to promote respectfully, as they feel is appropriate and applicable.
4.
To be responsible for your own relationships. You are not under obligation to develop relationships with any other site members. If you choose to do so, you do so on your own volition and you solely are responsible for the result of those relationships. We do not endorse or promote any learner in particular and, although we do vet each person joining the site, we have no way of truly knowing the lifestyle, morals or character of each member. Use wisdom as you develop new friendships with site members.
5.
All new members will be called and vetted. This is a private learning community and all new membership requests will be vetted. We do this to insure the quality and integrity of the community. We will not deny membership to any legitimate request made by a professional adult who has a real desire to make a positive impact on the Latino community after they learn Spanish.
6.
We reserve the right to change offers. We reserve full rights to change offers for free courses, learning tools, books, etc. If you join under one of these offers we will do all humanly possible to deliver this to you. However, if for some unforeseen reason or act of God, we are unable to deliver this, we are under no legal or contractual obligation to fulfill it to you.
7.
To not debate religion, politics, sexuality related themes, or themes of a violent nature. We are a Spanish learning community and our discussions will center around learning Spanish and learning how to better work and live with the Latino culture. The membership of this site is composed of people from many different walks of life. Each person makes their own lifestyle decisions and that is respected. That being said, we are not a religious community, a community of particular sexual orientations, or a community of people who promote or endorse violence. We are a community of Spanish learners and that is our primary purpose and motivation for being on this site.
In the interest of full disclosure and openess, the ownership of this site does hold to traditional Christian beliefs as the owner is a former minister, but this site will not used to attempt to evangelize or persuade members to a particular religious or denominational belief system. This does not preclude the right of ownership to refer to religious material that is generally accepted and practiced in the Latino culture, only doing so as a means of teaching regarding accepted and traditional cultural practices of the Latino people.
8.
Site members are encouraged to submit content. This is an interactive learning area and we encourage all members to submit original blog posts, pictures of activities they have relating to outreach and interaction with Latinos, videos they make that can be helpful to the rest of us, and more. You can also link to You Tube or Vimeo videos that are pertinent to the learning process, motivation, learning Spanish specifically (non-commercial content only), and more.
We do maintain the right to approve all content and if we deem something to be inappropriate, not applicable to the overall mission of the site, or commercial in nature, we do reserve the right to refuse to post or to remove said content. The disclaimer aside, we have a lot of very talented students and maybe this is the place for you to become a featured internet writer, video producer or more! Maybe you just want to show the world that you can also be a great teacher and not just a Spanish learner!
