As a Puerto Rican, this song "Soy Boricua" (I am Puerto Rican) always brings tears to my eyes! I put this here so you could consider the fact that Latinos in the U.S. can live and love two countries. One is not mutually exclusive of the other. I love Puerto Rico and miss it immensely. I also love the United States deeply. Many Latinos have a real love for both the U.S. and their homeland.

This song goes back many years but is very, very soulful and most Puerto Ricans would be brought to tears by it. These types of songs exist in other countries as well. So, here's the lesson, the next time you hear a Latino talking about how much they love their homeland, don't just give them the cliche, "well, if you love it so much why don't you go back" stuff. Try to understand that by saying that they miss or love their homeland, they are NOT saying they do not love the United States. After all, the most obvious point of all is that that is where they have actually chosen to live which should be taken as a compliment I would think.
